Japanese Words & Expressions
+ Dream +What is your dream? Well, my dream is to have my music and books published in many different countries; to travel to European countries like Greece (Greek music is awesome! I like Natasa Theodoridou.) and Czech, as well as some Asian countries; and to buy a house with a pool in Tennessee in the U.S. Maybe it's too big a dream?
Anyway, this time you'll learn how to say dream in Japanese.
This word has two syllables "yu-me." The sound of "yu" is similar to that of you, but its vowel sound is much shorter. Say, "you" first, and then repeat it again but try to stop right after you pronounce "y." The "me" part should be easy to pronounce. It's the "me" as in mend.
The English word dream has several different meanings, but so does the Japanese word "yume." Both words are pretty much equivalent in meaning. Isn't it cool?!
Here are some usage examples and related phrases:
Watashi wa sakuya iyana yume wo mimasita.
(I had a bad dream last night.)
Watashi wa （私は）= I
sakuya（昨夜） = last night
iyana（嫌な） = bad
yume wo mimasita（夢を見ました） = had a dream
Yume wa nan-desuka?
(What's your dream?)
Kasyu [Haiyuu, Kagakusha] ni naru koto desu.
(To become a singer [actor, scientist]. )
yume no youna
risou no koibito
